Cookie Dough. There’s a weird mystical quality to this being a treat – from the shop that sells it by the scoop to the fact that eating real cookie dough is rarely considered a good thing – not because of the egg as most people think (especially in the UK where our eggs are generally very safe), but the E. Coli risk from raw flour. However, the first ingredient here is heat-treated flour, so the mixture is probably authentic.

I’ve had the normal version of this sweet before, and they were quite nice, chocolate covered cookie dough bites basically. But here they’ve kept the cookie dough, and swapped out the chocolate for white… stuff.

Some have more sprinkles than others (although all the white ones had some on the other side)

I can’t work out what the outside is really, other than odd. It’s slightly creamy? It seems to foam up in your mouth when you eat it. It’s a bit weird. The packaging calls it “White Chocolate Flavoured Coating” and the main ingredients look quite normal – Sugar, Palm Oil, Milk. But it’s definitely not white chocolate flavoured.

Unfortunately for the purposes of this blog, they also don’t taste quite birthday cake – mainly because they taste too much like cookie dough. If anything they taste like cookie dough that has been coated with cheap vanilla flavoured shaving foam. The sprinkles so nicely teased on the outside don’t seem to have any real texture of their own, pretty as they are.

This one had the flickr logo on it

And so what do we rate these? They’re not especially nice, mainly because of the foamy texture, and they’re not very birthday cake as someone wasn’t quite generous enough with the vanilla bottle. However they do pick up some Birthday Cake points for the box and the colourfulness of their sprinkles. All in all, could do better, especially given how nice the normal cookie dough bites are!
