Jumping on the birthday cake bandwagon with their own inimitable take on the flavour is Wall’s with the Vienetta Birthday Cake. Yes – everyone’s favourite squiggly ice cream dessert now comes in a flavour more exciting than mint!
I’m old enough to remember Vienetta doing things like “chocolate brownie” flavour, which involved a thick chocolate brownie flavoured layer being applied to the top of the product and worked quite well. Here, however, effort has been significantly minimised.

So what have we got here? Well, it seems to be the mutant baby of the vanilla and strawberry Vienetta lines, with some sprinkles hastily dumped on top. As a consequence, it tastes nothing like vanilla or strawberry, but a rather watered down mixture of both.
Now we know that birthday cakes are not strawberry flavour, so there was never much chance of points being awarded here, but the flavours are so weak that it would dampen the spirits of even the most ice cream loving birthday goer. The only real saving grace is the thin crispy chocolate and vanilla ice cream combo, but I can find that in a normal Vienetta without the strawberry hanging about.

In short, this is not only a disappointment to Birthday Cake lovers, but also to Vienetta lovers. It has essentially no redeeming features whatsoever, especially over a standard Vienetta. They’ve basically got a point cause I like the packaging.
Apparently it’s been made to celebrate Wall’s 100th Birthday, which I can only assume will be as damp a sqib as you might expect from a company that was bought out by a massive conglomerate and now basically exists just as a massive ice cream factory in Belgium pumping out billions of Magnums to the entire world.
